I don't know...what does it truly mean to atone for your sins. There are sins i think i've committed that i think i've kind of "atoned for" because i apologized (this is a worldly view not christian) and put it behind me. do you have to go and fix everything to be able to live again? you cant fix everything. i mean she feels bad, she put her life on hold (nursing) but does that mean she as to be completely miserable and aboandon her dreams for her conscience to be cleared? i dont know, think of kite runner and what he went through to atone, do we really expect the same from Briony? Just babbling again :D
Saying sorry doesn't solve the problem, it is what you do afterwards that counts. Yes, you can't fix everything but i do expect people to take responsibility for their actions. Briony should ask for forgiveness, doesn't matter what the response is,asking for forgiveness is the first step to atonement.
She told them how she feels and what she did was wrong,she did what she could 2 make right,she wrote things from her view but making right what she lied and thought she saw.she did make right,it might not be a perfect ,a perfect sorry or family but she grew up and did what she could

ReplyDeleteI think if briony had someone to confide it was gonna be easier but she doesnt so it makes matters worse coz it eats her up inside
